Talons

The Madagascar Fish Eagle, the largest eagle on the 8th continent, is a species wrapped in myth. Some believe that the severed talon of the bird will grant the wearer great power and abilities, and as you watch it swoop low over the water, talons grasping for the fish below you begin to understand how these legends came about.

However, it is these beliefs, couple with deforestation, erosion, and direct competition with fisherman that has driven the species to the edge of extinction.

Classed as Critically Endangered, with a population of less than 300, they have become one of the rarest birds on the planet with the chances of seeing one dropping each year.
